What is Cerebral Palsy?
Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a neurological disorder caused by a non-progressive brain injury or malformation that occurs while the child’s brain is developing – before, during, or shortly following birth.
It affects body movement, muscle control and coordination, as well as communication and learning abilities. The most common type of CP is known as spastic CP which results in stiff muscles and exaggerated reflexes. Other types of CP include dyskinetic CP, ataxic CP and mixed forms of the condition.
