Arnold-Chiari malformation (ACM) is a congenital disorder of the brain and spine
In which parts of the cerebellum are pushed through an opening in the bottom of the skull, into the spinal canal.
This malformation can lead to a wide range of physical and cognitive difficulties for patients, including motor deficits, visual disturbances, headaches, balance issues, coordination difficulties, intellectual impairments, chronic pain, swallowing difficulties and breathing problems. Patients often experience limited physical mobility due to these symptoms and require specialised care.
Our team consists of highly trained nurses and therapists who are experienced in treating this condition. We understand that living with ACM can be challenging and our goal is to ensure each patient feels supported throughout their journey towards optimal health. Our nurses will assess each patient’s specific needs and develop a customised treatment program that includes physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy or other interventions as needed. They also provide counselling on nutrition and lifestyle changes that can help reduce symptoms such as pain or headaches as well as educational resources to help patients better understand their diagnosis.
In addition to personalised care plans tailored to each patient’s individual needs our team provides consistent follow-up monitoring to track progress over time. We also coordinate appointments with specialists such as neurologists or neurosurgeons when necessary or requested by the patient’s family so that appropriate medications or surgical intervention can be discussed if needed.
At Kinsa Care we believe no two individuals with ACM are alike and it is our mission to make sure each person receives individualised care tailored specifically for them so they can live life with greater independence despite their diagnosis.
